VSE is the official journal published by the National Association of Doctors of Economics and Management Sciences since 1960.

VSE Journal (Life & Business Sciences) VSE was published under the title "Life & Economic Sciences" until fall 2009. The title Life & Economic Sciences was replaced by Life & Business Sciences in winter 2009.

Since then, the VSE journal has focused mainly on publishing articles in business and management sciences (currently 90% of articles), with no more than 10% of articles in economics, given the journal's history and insofar as these economics articles are closely related to business sciences.

The organization of university research by academic disciplines has promoted a high degree of specialization at the expense of cross-disciplinary work. We want to offer our readers a balance between articles dealing with the various disciplines of management science and economics. That is why VSE features articles on finance, human resources, sustainable development, strategy and organization, energy transition, and, more recently, climatology.

In 25 years, this management science journal has achieved a high level of quality by remaining independent and practicing double peer review. VSE is primarily a French language journal, but 20% of its articles are written in English. It is widely recognized by the international management science community. It has been ranked fourth by FNEGE since 2020, and its articles are read on every continent (Source: Cairn.info).

VSE has been referenced by the Econlit economic database since 2010.

VSE has been referenced for over 15 years by the American EBSCO databases (Sales and Management):

VSE claims an ethical approach as an organization involved in its scientific community. As such, it complies with the “International recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)” and the requirements of major scientific indexing databases.

Each author wishing to submit an article to the VSE scientific journal undertakes to scrupulously respect this ethical charter. The editorial board reserves the right to refuse scientific contributions that do not comply with the values set out in this ethical charter. Mission and Scope

The journal enables researchers in management and management sciences to communicate their research and submit it to scientific criticism on managerial practices and their developments, integrating the fields of CSR and, more recently, the impact of climate change on businesses.

It focuses on economic actors involved in the various disciplines of management science and management.

Target audience

While it is primarily aimed at researchers, teachers, and students, it also targets businesses and institutions (executives, entrepreneurs, association leaders, regional actors, and public institutions) that want to keep pace with economic and societal developments (SDGs: Sustainable Development Goals).

Scientific requirements and formats

Articles published in VSE adhere to the most rigorous scientific standards in terms of conceptual approach, use of appropriate theories, and methodology. Theoretical articles are illustrated with practical examples. Some articles are specifically geared toward use in business or government.

The journal offers two publication formats:

International Reach

The VSE journal is predominantly French speaking, but its readership is international and not limited to French speakers (Cairn statistics: 17% of readers are non-French speakers).

The journal welcomes international researchers and is actively developing its international reach. Several special issues have been edited by guest editors.

The journal is indexed in EBSCO, PROQUEST, and CAIRN, and is seeking to be listed in SCOPUS.

Recognition and rankings

The journal is ranked 4th by FNEGE and appears in international rankings through its listing in the EBSCO and PROQUEST databases. 540 of its articles have been cited 352 times, and the number of citations is constantly increasing. It has been viewed more than 1,600,000 times on the Cairn website.

Evaluation process

The journal's evaluation process complies with the latest international standards and guarantees the fairness and transparency of editorial decisions.

Initial screening

The Editorial Board checks each submission for compliance with the journal's standards. It performs an automatic plagiarism check before forwarding submissions to the editors-in-chief.

Editorial evaluation

The editors review each submission and make an immediate rejection decision if the article does not fit the editorial line or is not of sufficient quality. The goal is to provide a rejection notice within two months.

Peer review

Selected articles are assigned to an associate editor, who appoints two reviewers who are specialists in the field. The reviewers have 60 days to submit their evaluation as part of a double-blind process. The journal undertakes to provide authors with an initial response within an average of three months.

Language revision

Articles accepted in French may be translated into English at the authors' expense, with professional editing to ensure linguistic quality. This partial move towards bilingualism aims to increase the international visibility of published works.

Each article submitted in English, subject to acceptance, must provide a French translation of the article at the authors' expense, with professional revision to ensure linguistic quality.

Access policy

The VSE Journal applies a free publication model for authors: no article processing charges are required.

Copyright: Authors whose manuscripts have been definitively accepted for publication in VSE receive a contract template specifying that they waive their copyright and authorize the publication of the article for the benefit of ANDESE.

The journal is distributed via the Cairn platform in accordance with the platform's terms of access. All articles are immediately available on the Cairn platform upon publication.

All issues published since 2005 are available on Cairn

Ethics charter

The journal has adopted a comprehensive ethics charter that defines the publication standards and responsibilities of all those involved in the editorial process. This charter, which is regularly updated, complies with the international recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the requirements of the main scientific indexing databases.

https://apropos.cairn.info/en/publishers/services-journals/code-of-ethics

https://apropos.cairn.info/fr/editeurs/services-aux-revues/charte-ethique

The fundamental principles of this charter focus on scientific integrity, transparency of processes, fairness in evaluation, and protection of confidentiality. It details the obligations of authors in terms of originality, declaration of conflicts of interest, and respect for research ethics, particularly for studies involving human participants.

The complete ethics charter is available here
https://apropos.cairn.info/en/publishers/services-journals/code-of-ethics

and on the journal's website. It is updated regularly.
