Abstract:

The integration of sustainability is now a strategic concern for SCs, with a view to preserving the planet's resources and moving towards a better, more sustainable future for all. The main aim of this article is to shed some light on the concept of sustainable supply chain management (SSCM). The aim is to present and discuss this concept by analyzing the state of the art of research, identifying the main trends as well as the areas that need to be further explored in the future. The article explores the different conceptual frameworks used in the research, identifies the drivers and barriers to SSCM implementation, and identifies the challenges ahead. Finally, this article also aims to promote understanding of the issues involved in SSCM, and to provide managers with answers on the key points in building and managing more sustainable supply chains.
