Abstract:

If Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) advocates a virtuous process in which health for all becomes egalitarian, ethical and equitable, the pandemic crisis (Covid-19) has highlighted certain limits to this process. The objective of our research is to understand the factors influencing copreneurs' decision-making in terms of Corporate Social Entrepreneurship (CSE) in a crisis context. Our literature review explores the interactions between CSE and CSR, particularly from the perspective of how copreneurs create both social and economic value. Our research method is qualitative with the investigation of a unique case: the couple of scientists-entrepreneurs who founded BioNTech, which will develop the Comirnaty vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech). Our findings suggest that CSE, when driven by leadership grounded in the personal values of entrepreneurial couples, serves as a key lever for organizational resilience during crises, thus fostering the creation of sustainable value.
